We all know sun is a very powerful form of energy. But have you wondered that
how sun is important to us. Importance mean not just for light that sun give
us but also in many other ways like as a god Surya Dev in Hinduism. We always
give very importance to Surya Dev ( The Sun ) by doing pooja at morning which
is a way to giving request and a way to  thanks our mother nature. There
is also science behind it. So today's floating zindagi blog is about Surya Dev
(The Sun) we will tell you about the benefits of sun, mythology behind sun and
the most important the pollution making sun dangerous for living beings on
  earth.
In Hindu mythology, people call Surya Dev to sun which is the
God Sun. Also we have so manys names of sun like Suraj, Aditya, Divyansh and
many more. In Hinduism, Surya is powerful god , often portrayed riding a
chariot driven by seven horses, representing the days of the week. He is
considered the provider of light, warmth, and life-giving energy.
It is believed that Surya's radiance illuminates the entire universe,
dispelling darkness and symbolizing knowledge, wisdom, and enlightenment. The
light from the Sun brightens up everything in the universe. It gets rid of
darkness and represents knowledge, wisdom, and understanding.
As a good health, The Sun is associated with good health and vitality
in Hindu mythology. Sunlight is considered essential for physical and mental
well-being. The rays of the Sun are believed to possess healing properties and
are used in traditional Ayurvedic practices for their therapeutic benefits.
As Pooja paath, Devotees of Hinduism offer prayers and perform rituals
to honor and seek blessings from Surya. Sun worship, known as
Surya Puja or Surya Namaskar, is a practice where individuals express
their gratitude and seek the Sun God's blessings for strength, prosperity, and
  spiritual growth.
The movement of sun is deeply connected to the concept of time in Hindu
mythology. The day with different phases such as dawn, morning, noon ,sunset
represents the journey and the cycle of life which is life ,death and rebirth.
Also in Hindu mythology, the Sun is seen as a symbol of divine power. Surya is
  very inspiring in itself.
Science of sun.
While mythology provided imaginative explanations for the Sun's significance,
scientific advancements have allowed us to comprehend its true nature. Here
are some key scientific facts about the Sun:
1. Composition and Structure:
The Sun is a massive ball of hot plasma, primarily composed of
hydrogen and helium. It has distinct layers, including the core where
nuclear fusion occurs, the radiative zone, and the convective zone. The
surface which we can see is called as photosphere.
2. Energy Source:
The Sun's energy comes from nuclear fusion, where hydrogen atoms combine to
form helium, releasing vast amounts of energy in the process. This energy
radiates outwards, providing light and heat to our planet.
Primary source of energy on Earth.is Sun. Scientists have harnessed solar
energy through the use of solar panels, converting sunlight into electricity.
Solar power is a clean and renewable energy alternative, reducing reliance
on fossil fuels and contributing to sustainable development.
3. Astronomy and Astrophysics:
The study of the Sun plays a crucial role in the field of astronomy and
astrophysics. Scientists use sophisticated instruments, such as
telescopes and satellites, to observe and understand the Sun's
behavior, its magnetic field, and its influence on space weather. These
observations help in predicting solar flares and other solar events that can
  impact Earth's technological systems.
4. Climate and Weather:
The Sun is a key driver of Earth's climate and weather patterns. Sunlight
heats the Earth's surface, leading to atmospheric circulation and the
formation of weather systems. Scientists study the Sun's radiation and its
impact on the Earth's climate to better understand climate change and its
  implications.
5) Importance for Living Beings on Earth:
  A. Light and Energy Source: The Sun is the primary source of light and
energy for life on Earth. Through the process of photosynthesis, plants
convert sunlight into chemical energy, which forms the basis of the food
chain. Also helps to regulate the climate and weather of earth.
  B. Vitamin D Synthesis: Sunlight exposure allows human bodies to
produce vitamin D, which is essential for maintaining healthy bones, teeth,
  and overall immune system function.
  C. Circadian Rhythms: The Sun plays a crucial role in regulating our
biological clocks and sleep-wake cycles. The rising and setting of the Sun
help synchronize our internal rhythms, influencing our overall health and
  well-being.
  D. Mental and Emotional Well-being: Sunlight exposure has been linked
to the release of serotonin in the brain, which is a neurotransmitter
associated with mood elevation and feelings of happiness. Sunlight also
promotes the production of endorphins, which can reduce stress and improve
  overall mental well-being.
The sun is very important for living beings on Earth. It provides us with
light and heat, which are essential for life. The sun's light helps plants
make their food through a process called photosynthesis. Plants use sunlight to convert carbon dioxide and water into oxygen and
glucose, a type of sugar. This process is vital because it produces oxygen,
which humans and other animals need to breathe.
The sun's heat is also crucial for living beings. It warms up our planet and
creates different climates around the world. Without the sun's warmth, Earth
would be very cold, making it difficult for plants and animals to survive.
However, it's important to remember that while the sun provides many benefits,
it can also be harmful if we are exposed to too much of its ultraviolet (UV)
rays. It's essential to protect ourselves by wearing sunscreen, hats, and
  sunglasses when spending time outdoors.
After all the benefit we are still doing something wrong with sun. We are
polluting our mother nature. Here's a simple explanation of how pollution
  affects the Sun's rays:
  1. Air Pollution: Air pollution, caused by pollutants released from
vehicles, factories, and other human activities, can have a direct impact on
the Sun's rays. When the air is polluted, it becomes filled with tiny
particles and pollutants like dust, smoke, and soot. These particles can
scatter and absorb sunlight, reducing the amount of sunlight that reaches the
  surface.
  2. Haze and Smog: Pollutants in the air can lead to the formation of
haze and smog. Haze consists of suspended particles and moisture in the air,
while smog is a combination of haze and pollutants, particularly ground-level
ozone. Both haze and smog can create a layer of pollution that obstructs
sunlight, making it appear hazy and dimmer.
  3. Atmospheric Effects: Certain pollutants can chemically react in the
atmosphere, forming compounds that can absorb and scatter sunlight. For
example, nitrogen oxides and sulfur dioxide can react with other substances
and form aerosols, which can alter the way sunlight interacts with the
atmosphere and affect the Sun's rays.
  4. Diminished Sunlight Intensity: When pollution levels are high, the
scattering and absorption of sunlight by pollutants can lead to reduced
sunlight intensity. The Sun may appear less bright, and the overall amount of
solar radiation reaching the Earth's surface may decrease. This can have
implications for various aspects of life, including agriculture, solar energy
  generation, and human health.
  5. Impact on Human Health: Pollution can also have indirect effects on
the Sun's rays by affecting human health. For instance, high levels of air
pollution can lead to the formation of thick clouds of smog, which can block
sunlight and reduce its intensity. Additionally, pollution can contribute to
the formation of acid rain, which can harm plants and ecosystems, indirectly
affecting the availability of sunlight for various organisms.
At the end, the Sun who gives us energy every day without expecting anything,
we are polluting it too. For our short term needs we are losing our long term
  needs.
Just one thing from my side, stop polluting our mother nature because if
nature gives you peace then it also have a power to destroy you.
That's it for today Thank you ☺️.
